The applicant's documents identify a heavy construction period. Any proposed route must work with the road as it is used by residents, not with parked vehicles or pedestrians assumed away.

St Edmunds Lane and Church End Bridge are not abstract lines on a plan. Their day-to-day use, parked cars, pedestrians, children, width restrictions and emergency access need to be tested in real conditions.

The bridge needs a workable answer
Church End Bridge has a weight restriction. The council needs an evidence-based, deliverable solution for the vehicles the proposal would require, before it can rely on that access.
Parking cannot simply be displaced
Moving existing resident parking from one street into surrounding roads can create new obstruction and safety problems. The practical consequences need to be assessed openly.
Questions worth asking
- Does the assessment test the full route, including parked vehicles and people walking?
- Can construction and delivery vehicles pass safely without removing residents' normal parking?
- How would emergency vehicles, school journeys, cyclists and pedestrians be protected?
